Come and join us during National Safe Work Month and hear from our passionate, highly experienced and committed WHS Workplace. Confirm your commitment to building a safe and healthy workplace by participating this October! Come to one session or all sessions, simply select the number of tickets for each session you require.

8am Supplying and Hosting Labour – Do you have everything covered?

There can be a perception that contracting labour is an effective way of diverting part or all health and safety responsibilities to someone else. This session will examine recent court cases involving the use and provision of labour hire and provide practical information about how to protect workers and your organisation when supplying or hosting labour.

9am How to balance risk assessment and control whilst maintaining productivity in your workplace

This session will provide you with practical information and tools on what you should consider when carrying out a risk assessment, how you know when you have gone far enough and how you can balance risk assessment and control with maintaining productivity? These and many more frequently asked questions about risk assessment will be addressed during this informative session.

10am Drug and Alcohol in the Workplace

This session will explore the extent of drug and alcohol misuse in Australia and the financial cost to Australian businesses. You will be provided with an understanding of your obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012. You will also be armed with actions you can take as Business Owners, Supervisors and Managers when you suspect a worker may be misusing drugs and/or alcohol or is under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol in the workplace.

11am Proactive and reactive approaches to corporate or workplace health & wellbeing

This session will discuss a reactive approach to workplace ‘illness’ such as when a problem arises, or a condition worsens using injury management and performance management. On the flip side, we will give you the tools to systematically plan a proactive approach to corporate wellness by creating a healthy workplace.

12pm Mental Health in the Workplace

During the course of the presentation, we will look at mental health from a number of different perspectives, providing clear understanding of workplace obligations under privacy, disability discrimination, workplace relations and safety laws. We will discuss, with the benefit of case studies, how to effectively support and manage employees with mental health conditions as well as how to build a mentally healthy workplace that is both safe and productive.

1pm Healthy Association Incentives information session

In this information session you will find out what strategies peak bodies and industry associations can implement to support workplace health and wellbeing action across their industry and by their member businesses. In the session you will find about the incentive funding available to get your Associations exciting health and wellbeing project idea off the ground.
