Business and News Writing Essentials

In a world where we increasingly rely on the written word to communicate our ideas, it is more important than ever to master the art of written communication, regardless of your field, job, and expertise.

Good writing not only ensures effective communication but increases credibility and influence. Whether you are sending an internal email to colleagues, pitching to journalists, or communicating with clients, the way you write can either support or hinder your career progression.

This five-week live webinar course is designed for those who work in the PR and comms industry. Training outcomes include: confidence to get started, how to research a topic, setting objectives, spelling and grammar basics, improved sentence structure, how to edit work for more clarity, and editing skills.

Attendees will learn how to:

  • Best practice writing

  • Questions to ask before you write

  • Getting started

  • Drafting text for effective business documents

  • Sentence structure

  • Word choice, spelling

  • News, angles, pitches

  • Grammar basics

  • Punctuation

  • Business writing

  • Action plan

This online webinar series will occur weekly for five weeks and run Tuesdays at 12 noon to 1.15pm (AEST - Australian Eastern Standard Time).

- An easy, quiet place that is free of distractions to make you feel good about writing. Consider a meeting room, coffee shop or library if your usual place is too noisy.
- Technical details: A computer to tune into the webinars, internet access, and a PDF reader

Workshop Facilitator: Amanda Little, FPRIA
Former Managing Director of Hill and Knowlton and Edelman, Amanda has more than 20 years experience in PR consulting. She has had firsthand experience in writing a wide range of pr and comms documents. Amanda has a BA (Communication) and MBA from UTS and has taught PR at Universities and TAFE.
