Business Events Ready workshop

Why target business events?

Business events are recognised as providing the highest yield of any tourism segment and are estimated to generate up to six times the average expenditure of leisure travel visitors (National Business Events Study). Last year, the conference and incentive market contributed $40million to the Sunshine Coast economy (Queensland Business Events Survey), in addition to a range of benefits which extend beyond the actual event expenditure.

How should attend?

Any business who wants to target the lucrative business events market or provide professional development for their sales team.

Presented by Business Events Sunshine Coast, the official convention bureau for the region, this workshop is for any local business considering targeting the business events market or those already working within the sector who want to upskill their staff.

After this workshop participants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Clear understanding of what a business event is.
  • Clear understanding of the business events market and how to target.
  • Understand the needs and requirements of the business events market and ensure your product meets those needs.
  • How to write a winning proposal and decipher leads.
  • How to formulate business events specific products, packages and pricing.
  • Understand the role of the convention bureau.
  • Insight into existing and potential international business events markets.

In addition, the afternoon sessions will include presentations and Q&A opportunities with key business events professionals.

Facilitator: Liz Rivers, Director of Queensland Signature Events

Guest speaker: Kelly Maynard, Business Events Distribution Development Manager from Tourism Australia.

Discussion panel: Including event planners from the three key event buyer markets corporate, association and intermediary (PCOs).

Time: 8.30am – 4.30pm

Morning session 8.30am – 12.30pm – Introduction to business events and how to write a winning proposal

Afternoon session 1.00pm – 4.30pm – Buyer panel discussion and Tourism Australia presentation
