Rev up up your business etiquette skills in this half-day masterclass that will help you engage and network with confidence in social and business environments, whether you are a working professional or student looking to get a headstart in your career development.

At the end of the masterclass, participants will be able to understand the difference between etiquette and protocol, the principles of good etiquette and how to apply them, as well as possess the know-how to carry out a proper introduction in a business context using diplomatic standards, including meet and greet protocol and handshakes.

The session will also equip participants with networking essentials and tips on using non-verbal language to increase confidence.


Session outline:

Understanding Perceptions. How are you perceived? Evaluate your peers and yourself in a fun and eye-opening exercise.

What is Etiquette? Discover the difference between protocol and etiquette and the roles that they play in social and business scenarios.

Principles of Good Etiquette. Essential etiquette principles to guide you through tough, embarrassing and unexpected situations. These principles provide a good guide in helping establish social and business civility. Good manners never go out of fashion! (Includes segment on email and telephone etiquette)

Introduce with Impact (Sequence and words). Using international diplomatic protocol, understand and practice the correct way to introduce your guests, sponsors and your peers.

3 keys to a memorable handshake. Unlearn to learn. A handshake is the only physical contact we should have with our business contacts. Learn how the politicians do it and do it better!

5 Keys to Professional Power and Poise. Essential body language for power and poise. This includes exercises on non-verbal language applicable to face to face interactions and on the telephone.

Networking essentials. Network like a diplomat! Learn the secrets of breaking into a group and exiting with grace. An essential part of networking is defining your purpose at an event as well having the confidence to converse and interact with confidence – this segment will take participants through key skills to network effectively.

About the teacher

Cecellia Telkes has lived and worked in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines, contributing to her extensive experience in cross cultural diversity and international etiquette. She has trained staff of global banks, international government agencies, Royal Court officers and instructed at Australian and Singapore universities. She is also the Etiquette Mentor for the renowned Melba Opera Trust. She's passionate about good manners, sharing skills and knowledge with a sprinkling of fun and laughter.
