Event description
A guided bushwalk at Pittwater and lunch at the historic Trincomalee residence to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

About this event

Join Garden Life founder, Richard Unsworth, and bush expert, Paul Webb, for a private guided tour of bushland in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, followed by lunch at the historic Trincomalee residence, Richard’s home in Pittwater. Money raised from the tour will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, to support the amazing work they do in Australia’s remote communities.

The bushwalks take one of two routes on the day - either the Elvina Bay Track or a Lovett Bay walk to Linda Falls.

  • 8.55am - ferry departs from Church Point
  • 9.20am - arrive at either Elvina Bay North Wharf or Hall's Wharf and begin walk
  • 12.30pm - arrive at Trincomalee for lunch and a garden tour
  • 1.30pm - depart Trincomalee and return to ferry wharf

HIGHLIGHTS

Discover the natural beauty of this hidden part of Sydney, just one hours drive north from the CBD.

Start the day off by catching the Scotland Island Ferry across to Elvina Bay or Lovett Bay where we’ll start our walk through the stunning Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

From there we'll explore wonderful Indigenous carvings, identify local bush foods, wildflowers and learn about native flora and fauna and how they can work in your own garden. Paul will take us off the beaten track, to point out some favourite spots, including the ponds at the top of Linda Falls at Lovett Bay.

Finally we will make our way down to Richard’s house, Trincomalee, for an informal lunch and look at the regeneration of this historic property’s garden, the neighbouring crown land, and the garden works in progress, before returning to Church Point.

COST

$175.00 per person - includes ferry transfers, guided walk, lunch and refreshments.

ALL FUNDS raised from ticket sales are donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

ABOUT THE INDIGENOUS LITERACY FOUNDATION

The foundation is dedicated to lifting literacy levels in remote Indigenous communities, so all children across Australia have the same choices and opportunities. The purpose of the foundation is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books – with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
