Event description

Description

Traditionally in Women's Health, the advice has been given to limit lifting over a certain weight.

This has seen the alientation of many women who enjoy, compete or even earn their living lifting weights.

Physical activity including at least 2 sessions of whole body strengthening is reocmmended by the World Health Organisation and the UK Chief Medical Officers and other health organisations around the world for the general population and pregnant women.

This short but very practical session (come prepared to do some exercise and practice on each other!) hopes to provide an insight into how to help those with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (in partiular Stress Urinary Incontinence and Pelvic Organ Prolpase) be able to lift at a level that is suitable for them.

You will be introduced to the #BulletproofPFRoutine for lifting heavy things. This will include a look at some old and new ideas such as:

  • Breathing
  • What is the "Core"?
  • How to quickly progress within minutes, not weeks from "core" exercises
  • The concepts of #spreadtheload and #tensiontotask
  • How to apply this to your client during lifting

There will be a very quick introduction to the topic before getting into the nuts and bolts of the content. If you are interested in a more comprehensive coverage of the topic incuding bodyweight exercise, impact exercise, and a different way of thinking, please consider coming along to The Female Athlete Course held in Exeter on May 5-6 " REL="nofollow">' target="_blank" title="The Female Athlete Course in Exeter, UK">(details here)

Coming on this course, you should walk away with an evidence-informed approach to helping your clients stay at the gym and in sports requiring heavy lifting.

I am looking forward to meeting you all in person and sharing what I have with you and learning from all of you.

Cheers
