Description

PLEASE NOTE THE PNB MONTHLY MEETINGS ON THE LAST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH ARE NOW BACK AT THE NARRABEEN TRAMSHED COMMUNITY CENTRE

Cave Urban is a Sydney based collective dedicated to the study, design and practical application of passive sustainable systems for living. . Key areas of interest include sustainable house design, renewable energy systems, resource recycling and the use of bamboo as a low-energy, renewable structural building material. What began as research in 2010 is now the intersection of practical art and architecture through the use of bamboo

Cave Urban’s projects involve the participation of the local community, universities and artists, fostering cross cultural exchange and collaboration with artists such as Wang Wen-Chih (Taiwan), Georges Cuvillier (Belgium), Amir Rabik (Indonesia), Carolina Pinto (Chile) and Markus Tatton (Australia). Cave Urban has partnerships with organisations such as: Opera Australia, MONA, Clemenger, University of Tasmania, UNSW, Sydney City Council, Royal Botanical Gardens, Australian National Botanical Gardens, Brisbane City Council and the Woodford Folk Festival.

Permaculture Northern Beaches will be hosting co-founder of Cave Urban, Jed Long, at our November meeting. Please come along and join us to learn how bamboo can be utilised to create beautiful and sustainable structures.

We will have a swap table to share the abundance from your garden and home, such as small potted plants, crops, and books. There will also be organic teas and coffee available, please bring a plate of food to share.

All welcome, entry is by donation for hall hire costs. This will be out last public meeting for 2018.
