Event description
You are invited to explore the inaugural Building Resilience exhibition at Watt Space Gallery curated by the University of Newcastle.

About this Event

You are invited to the inaugural Building Resilience exhibition at Watt Space Gallery, curated by researchers at the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at the University of Newcastle.

The Building Resilience exhibition is a unique testament to multi-disciplinary research. It fuses many disciplines including Construction Management, Disaster Resilience and Architecture to raise awareness of the multiple dimensions of resilience.

At the exhibition, you can expect to see and experience innovative research informing transformations in land use planning, managing bushfire and flood risks, green technology and repurposing demolition waste. The exhibition explores the role of ‘power plants’ to remediate abandoned heavy industrial sites and highlights the emerging influence of social media in the construction industry.

The exhibition also includes interactive elements allowing you to experiment and immerse yourself with actives involving creative place making in Newcastle city and building a resilient structure in a disaster zone.

The exhibition is a great opportunity to learn the challenges and opportunities in building a sustainable and resilient future.

The exhibition was curated by Associate Professor Thayaparan Gajendran (Deputy Head of School, SABE) and Gillian Shaw (Art Curator).
