Event description

Description

Be at the forefront of Fire Safety Engineering in Australia.

The Lacrosse and Grenfell fire incidents prompted a deep re-examination of the role of fire safety engineers. The Warren Centre is excited to present our new research at this not-to-be-missed event.

2nd Annual Fire Safety Engineering Conference – Building Confidence through the Professionalisation of Fire Safety Engineering.

The Warren Centre is working to redefine the role, competency, education and accreditation of fire safety engineers in Australia.

While there are major problems to be solved for the wider building design and construction industry, the Lacrosse and Grenfell incidents have prompted a review of the role of fire safety engineers. Our current research reviews the competence, education and accreditation to improve overall design practice, and to help lift the level of performance of fire safety engineers to that of a true profession.

The landscape of what it means to be an Engineer in Australia is shifting rapidly. The Warren Centre's project on Fire Safety Engineering has been on the forefront on this movement, and it's time to broaden the discussion with the wider professional community and review where we are and where the engineering profession is moving.

The Warren Centre project has released to date four Reports and one Interim Report. We have co-ordinated industry, academia and government to consolidate the current position whereby QLD, VIC and NSW are registering Fire Engineers.

What to expect at the one-day conference:

Presentations will focus on the project’s evaluation of the current state of Fire Safety Engineering across all of Australia. You will hear directly from the report authors as well as the industry leaders re-shaping the place of the professional fire safety engineers’ role in the design, construction, and the overall building asset life cycle. You will hear from industry experts in panel discussion formats review the latest proposed changes and participate in moderated Q&A. Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Tea are included along with a networking session with drinks and canapés that will conclude the afternoon.

Who Should Come:

Last year’s conference in February 2019 was a great success with over 200 attendees. For this 2020 all day event, you will hear vital information from governments, regulators, fire services, the property sector, the fire protection industry, fire scientists, researchers, academics, fire safety consultants, building surveyors, certifiers, product suppliers, installers, insurers and brokers.
