Event description

Description

This course will focus on common paediatric orthopaedic conditions encountered in physiotherapy practice. It will be of benefit to physiotherapists working across a wide range of settings including private practice, community health, schools and acute paediatric health services. The course will guide you through differential diagnosis, medical and physiotherapy management and when to refer on for further investigations. This course is targeted at clinicians who are wanting to update their paediatric orthopaedic physiotherapy knowledge. The course will be presented by clinicians working currently in each specialty area.

Day 1 will focus on conditions occurring predominantly in infancy through to pre-school years including plagiocephaly and torticollis, congenital talipes equinovarus, developmental hip dysplasia including physiotherapy assessment skills, normal postural varation, differential diagnosis of toe walking, brachial plexus palsy and scar management.

Day 2 will focus on conditions affecting school aged child and across the life span from 0-18 years including physiotherapy and orthopaedic management of children with cerebral palsy, hip conditions, prosthetics and limb deficiency, scoliosis and spinal conditions and a differential diagnosis session on the limping child.
