The world of nature has fallen into ruin owing to greed – greed for a ring of power, contested by dwarves, giants, gods and even humans. It was the dwarf Alberich who stole pure gold from the water-nymph to create the Ring and a magic helmet, seized by the chief god Wotan. Henceforth – the Ring was cursed. Only Brunnhilde, famous from the stirring ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ could break through the curse of greed – through love.
