Broken Music: the Barton Park Square Piano
Event Information
Description
Meet our Broadwood square piano. Manufactured in London around 1845, it travelled over the mountains in a horse and cart to its first owners the Walkers of Wallerowang Station. The murders of Lue and James Walker Barton in 1948 led to this piano entering the museum’s collection.
Internationally trained piano technicians Jennifer and Marcelo will guide you through the evolution and social history of the piano in this engaging talk. Learn about the unique square piano. Distinct from modern pianos in their design and sound, they are no longer made.
Enjoy a glass of wine and exclusive after hours access to Eskbank House Museum. Satisfy your curiousity about the Barton Park story with our current exhibition True Crime Barton Park. Roam the garden and enjoy the rose walk in bloom.
