Event description

Description

We live in a literate world! However many people have difficulty accessing literacy and developing their literacy skills.
This workshop will give you fun and practical ideas that explore the four blocks of literacy: guided reading, self-selected reading, writing and working with words.

During the workshop you will explore and practice making accessible books by modifying books, using technology as well as creating your own books on topics that really motivate individual preferences. You will make alternative pens and learn about building literate rich environments and experiences for people of all ages.

This workshop is particularly relevant if someone you know has communication challenges. It is going to bring to life literacy considerations for both children and adults with communication challenges.

Workshop facilitated by Mamre Allied Health team's Speech Language Pathologist.

Suitable for parents, support workers, teachers and child care workers as well as therapists and any other literacy-lovers.

If you are supporting a participant who has an NDIS plan with allocation in Improved Daily Living support area and goals that relate to their communication, please contact the team to discuss whether workshop can be charged directly against the plan.
