Event description

Description

Let’s get loud and bright! Explore light and sound in this fun hands-on program designed to learn all about waves and the cool stuff they do. What do sounds look like? How do we make vibrations? What instruments can we make to learn about pitch and noise? But we don’t just study sound waves...

Investigate the visible light spectrum, including colour addition and subtraction, ultraviolet light and more. We explore illusions, flipbooks and lots of amazing optics that will trick your eyes and muddle your brain.

Make it a full day of science fun by pairing this with our Marvellous Mixtures at 9:45am and/or our Liquid Nitro Show at 11am.

Grades K-4
Bookings essential

Please note parents MUST STAY with children for these workshops due to age range present.*

*If children are booked into all three programs run that day and ONLY if they are already at PRIMARY SCHOOL, then parents may sign kids in and leave them in our care with supervised breaks until the end of the final session. We are sorry but this does not apply to younger siblings who are not at school.

This program is presented by Fizzics Education as part of the Sydney Olympic Park Kids in the Park program! Check out our other awesome holiday workshops on offer at Sydney Olympic Park!

  • A hat

  • A water bottle

  • Any medications (your child must be able to self-medicate)

  • NB: No peanuts allowed on-site

EpiPens

We take anaphylaxis seriously. Any child that requires an EpiPen must bring a minimum of one EpiPen on the day in association with the ASCIA Guidelines. Please give all information of the allergic condition to our presenters. For the safety of your child, we cannot have them onsite without their prescribed EpiPen.

Refunds Policy

Fizzics will provide a full refund only if the event is rescheduled or cancelled. We cannot refund tickets, but name changes on tickets are acceptable. Fizzics reserves the right to review all requests for refunds on a discretionary basis.

Where is the program being held?

The Education Centre is located within Bicentennial Park in Sydney Olympic Park. To get there, enter the park via the Australia Avenue gates and follow the signs around to the p10f carpark (it is almost at the park exit). Once you reach p10f, you'll see signs to the Education Centre! If you're arriving by train, Concord West train station is closer to the venue than Olympic Park train station.

My child is younger than the age stated, can they attend with their older sibling?

No. The minimum age of this program is set to ensure that children attending have the fine motor and spatial skills to successfully build the catapults and keep up with the pace of the program. Younger children tend to fall behind and can end up frustrated which can have an impact on the rest of the class.
