Event description

Description

Augmented and Virtual Reality technology is profoundly changing the way we visualise and interact with data in immersive, 3D real-world environments.

Despite advancements in the way we experience these dimensions, the tools used to support the visualisation and analysis of these environments is limited.

At our event, Bridging the Gap within Virtual and Augmented Reality, Dr Maxime Cordeil will discuss:

- What ImAxes is, and how this tool uses the 3D space to build and explore multidimensional data
- IATK; a data visualisation toolkit that helps build immersive systems
- What other tools exist in the market to bridge the gaps within VR and AR
- What future opportunities exist in the market and what to look out future

Speaker: Dr Maxime Cordeil (Data Visualisation, Mixed Reality and HCI research at Monash University)

Dr Maxime Cordeil is a Research Fellow at Monash University and is also a member of the Immersive Analytics Lab and SensiLab research teams. His work focuses on data visualisation in both Augmented and Virtual Reality. Maxime has 7 years of experience as a data visualisation and AR/VR researcher, software and hardware developer. His work is highly driven by user-centred design approaches. He obtained his PhD from the Higher Institute of Aeronautics and Space and the University of Toulouse (France) in December 2013.
