Bricolage Show: Mark J Wilson.
A live performance work featuring projections and original songs, Wilson turns to the lived experience of online/offline identity, sexuality, gender, marriage & media.
Proudly supported by RMIT LinkArts and funded by the Upstaged program.
What is bricolage? French in its origin and found in creative art movements such as punk. Bricolage is similar to collage but is focused more on immediately available elements - in this case interweaving media, songs, reflections and monologues.
Part research investigation for a thesis project for his Master degree in Communication at RMIT, Wilson sharpens his focus on the penetration of online self and seeks to challenge its authenticity. He believes this electric dissection will take us to a place of deeper questioning, such as the aspects that we all perform in curating and forming our online identities.
This self-styled performance work is more than alternative and rests on the edge of the surreal. Image, text, music and media refashioned in a remix style.
