Event description

Description

For both homeowners and Building Designers, the presence of mould and excessive condensation in both residential and commercial design is a prominent and troublesome issue. The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) reported that condensation is present in around one third of all Australian homes.

What is the solution? The BDAA, in association with Weathertex is proud to present the association’s third Condensation event, Breaking the Mould: Designing to prevent Condensation & Mould in Efficient Buildings. This symposium, scheduled Wednesday 6 November 2019, 9.30am – 4.30pm, at Caroma Flagship, 39 Collins St, Alexandria (Sydney), will explore the ways in which mould and condensation originate in today’s Australian building design and the ways to analyse the risk of your designs in order to prevent the occurence of such damage & health issues. Hosted by BDAA, Weathertex and Caroma the symposium will explore this issue from all possible angles. Dr Mark Dewsbury, University of Tasmania, will tell guests how condensation forms in building structures. Dr. Heike Neumeister-Kemp, Mycolab/ Mycotec, will explore the topic of mould-related disease. Jesse Clarke of Pro Clima will demonstrate how to discover if your designs are prone to developing mould by utilising Building physics and Modelling. Daniel Kress of Smart Plus Living will expand on how building physics can be utilised holistically in design & construction to not only make buildings healthy, but eminently comfortable and efficient. Sean Maxwell of Pro Clima will present Building Physics – touch & feel. Breaking

Breaking the Mould: Designing to prevent Condensation & Mould in Efficient Buildings will culminate with an interactive panel experience, during which experts will answer audience questions about this vital, much overlooked topic.
