Event description

Description

Rebekha Sharkie is the Federal member for Mayo and part of the Nick Xenophon team. The electorate of Mayo was established 1984 and was held by the Liberal Party until the election of Rebekha in 2016. Rebekha was elected on the basis of bringing active representation to the region to Make Mayo Matter.

With an electorate spanning some 9,315 square kilometres and a host of towns including Bridgewater, Birdwood, Crafers, Echunga, Gumeracha, Hahndorf, Kingscote, Langhorne Creek, Lobethal, Macclesfield, Mount Barker, Myponga, Nairne, Oakbank, Stirling, Strathalbyn, Victor Harbor, Woodside and Yankalilla, Rebekha knows a thing or two about the importance of towns and townships from a regional development perspective. Rebekha is also keenly aware of the importance of identity and a sense of community connection created by towns and mainstreets, and is keen to pursue the role that towns may play in decentralisation in the future.

Rebekha will provide an overview of her insights based on her diverse electorate and her first year in Federal Parliament, but she has indicated that she is more than happy to engage on a range of topics, so bring your questions along to this informal breakfast Q & A.

Our venue is the Award-winning Stirling Hotel located in Rebekha's electorate and less than 10 minutes up the freeway.

Do not miss this opportunity to learn what is happening at the Federal level, and hear Rebekha's insights on what it takes to make a town succeed.
