Walk 2: The battle for the Boundary and other Kensington tales
Join writer Sophie Cunningham for this walking tour along a short section of the boundaries of the City of Melbourne. Beginning at the Newmarket Saleyard administrative building the tour takes in some of the Newmarket historic stock route. Cutting down Epsom and Macaulay Roads we consider the period from 1995-2008 when Kensington was, temporarily, split between two councils (City of Melbourne and Moonee Ponds), and consider the importance of these governance boundaries. You'll return via the Doutta Galla Hotel and viewing several significant historical buildings and sites along the way.
Date: Saturday 19 November, 10am to 12pm
Meeting Place: Outside the Newmarket Saleyard, corner of Racecourse and Smithfield Roads
