Event description

Description

This writing workshop forms part of a series of monthly writing workshops run in partnership with the ACT Writers Centre . All workshops in this series are suitable for new and emerging writers over the age of 16+.

It’s that time of year again, when thousands of writers come together to attempt the seemingly impossible – write a 50,000 word novel in a single month! This workshop will break down the whole process, and give you everything you need to get going.

We will cover:

  • forming a writing community to cheer for;
  • practising methods for structuring writing time;
  • producing work despite insane self-imposed pressure; and
  • remaining focused before and after NaNoWriMo.

Participants should bring whatever they're going to be using to do NaNoWriMo and (if they have one) a smartphone. All activities can be done without a smartphone.

Rosanna Stevens is a musician and writer whose publication credits include The Toast, The Griffith Review, The Lifted Brow and The Believer. She has studied writing at University of Technology Sydney and The Second City, and she’s due to finish a PhD at Australian National University in two to three decades. You can keep up with her latest on Twitter: @RosannaBeatrice.

Bookings essential.
