Book Club: because reading a great book and then not being able to discuss it is like winning tattslotto and not telling anyone about it!

Book Club Year 3 & 4 - The Witching Hours - Friday 17th November 4pm

THE VAMPIRE KNIFE (THE WITCHING HOURS #1) by Jack Henseleit

The Spiderwick Chronicles meets Stranger Things in this thrilling new series for only the bravest of children.

After a chance encounter in a dark and stormy forest, two siblings are caught up in the dangerous underworld of fairies and must fight their way free. A storm is raging around the forests of Transylvania, where siblings Anna and Max are visiting with the Professor. Left alone to explore a creepy old inn, the children discover that something evil is lurking in the trees - and it just might have a taste for human blood. When Max goes missing, it's up to Anna and her new friend Isabella to rescue him. Setting out in the dead of night, with the storm howling around them, the girls will face peril after peril. Only one thing is certain: even if Anna can find a way to rescue her brother, Max will never be the same again ...

The Vampire Knife is the first book in The Witching Hours, a spine-tinglingly spooky new series by Jack Henseleit for readers 8+.

The Little Bookroom Logo

The Little Bookroom - bringing children's books to Melbourne since 1960.

The Little Bookroom opened its doors to the public on Friday the 13th October, 1960, the first bookstore in Australia to stock only children's books. It has been a Melbourne institution ever since!

The shop is named for a collection of stories by Eleanor Farjeon who wrote:

"I am proud and happy to know you've chosen the title of my book for the title of your Bookshop in the City my Father first set foot in the 1850s when he emigrated to Australia as a boy of 16. The stories he told me of his arrival in Melbourne have always made it seem to be one of 'my' cities. Thank you for giving me a home in it"

Edward Ardizzone illustrated 'The Little Bookroom' and provided us with an original ink illustration for our logo, a treasure indeed.
