Description

Thinking that joining a Board might be an ideal way to make your contribution? Not sure where to start, where to look, or even if your skills are what a Board needs?

Come and hear from two fabulous Directors on their experience and tips on getting and being on a Board. This event is ideal for aspiring, new or experienced Directors or those wanting to meet new and interesting people.

OUR SPEAKERS:

Rose Hiscock

Rose Hiscock is the inaugural Director of Science Gallery Melbourne, an innovative new gallery dedicated to the collision of art and science. Planned to open in 2018, Science Gallery Melbourne is a flagship engagement project of the University of Melbourne and once established, will be part of the Global Science Gallery Network - a network of eight Science Gallery locations developed in partnership with leading universities in urban centres including Dublin, London and Bangalore.

Prior to joining Science Gallery, Rose was Director of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), Executive Director Arts Development for the Australia Council for the Arts and Manager Marketing and Commercial operations at Museum Victoria.

Rose is committed to building a vibrant, balanced and accessible arts sector. Noting the gender gap in Directorships, she played an instrumental role in developing a mentoring program to nurture future female museum Directors. She is a Board member of Back to Back Theatre, Australia’s highly successful company with a full-time ensemble of actors considered to have an intellectual disability, and Chunky Move, one of Australia’s premier dance companies.

Leonie Morgan

Included on the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll for ground-breaking leadership in increasing women’s participation in public life, Leonie is an experienced board director and consultant.

Her successs builds on her work with the Office for the Community Sector in Victoria’s public service creating practical tools and providing advice on best practice workforce and community sector capacity building. Leonie's expertise and commitment was recognised by the Departmental Secretary’s Outstanding Achievement Award. She loves using her skills to bring about positive change that endures and her focus is on inclusion, equality, increasing organisational diversity and building capacity.

Most recently she has used her superior facilitation skills and strong commitment to women’s active participation in public life to work, in partnership with the International Women’s Development Agency, in the Pacific with the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement and the Bougainville Women’s Federation. She is currently coordinating a mentoring program which matches six new Myanmar women MPs with six Australian MPs for IWDA in partnership with Akhaya Women in Myanmar.

Leonie is a Board member of the Holmesglen Institute, Film Victoria and EMILY’s List Australia Boards. She is a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and hold a Masters of Education and Graduate Diplomas in Media and Cinema and in Women's Studies.
