Blume Illustrated Workshops: Experimental Illustration

Emma Magenta and Jude Martinez are two illustrator, designer, fine artists with an incredible range of skills and expertise to share. In this full day intensive, participants will explore a variety of experimental image making techniques that push beyond the boundaries of the traditional techniques of illustration.
You will take a look at the work of mixed media artists working in the field of contemporary illustration, as well as some masters from the past.
Part 1: Emma and Jude will share their unique skills and experience as professional illustrator, artist, designers in a series of exercises in which you will investigate the possibilities of combining hand and digital image making to produce print ready images with collage, media transfers, digital layering, simple printmaking, scanned and found textures and text.
Each participant will develop an illustrative response to a creative brief using a combination of experimental techniques.
Emma and Jude will provide individual feedback and one on one guidance to each participant to enable a solid understanding of the illustration process and develop confidence in combining experimental illustration into artwork that is print ready.
Participants should be reasonably well advanced in fine art, drawing and or illustration skills and be open to experimentation.
Materials: Paper and various materials and mediums will be provided.
- USB 4GB, Laptop with Photoshop if you have either
- Digital camera ( Smart phone and usb transfer cable is ok)
- 2b, 6b Pencils and any colour mediums such as water colour Gouache, crayons etc if you have them
- Black fine liner pen, size 0.4 ( Artline or similar brand)
- Stick glue and scissors
- 15 cm ruler and eraser

There is plenty of parking at Coles carpark in Parke Street or surrounding streets for BMCC workshops. 5 min walk from train station: Katoomba

Tickets numbers are strictly limited: Up to 30 days before the event: 50% refund. 30 days to 14 days before the event 30% refund. 14 days and less prior to the event - no refund.
