Blume Illustrated Workshops: Experimental Fashion Illustration
Fri. 5 May 2017, 10:30 am – 3:30 pm AEST
This intensive one day master class with award winning Illustrator and Illustration lecturer Faye Wilson, is aimed at those who want to develop illustrative skills in relation to the rich and varied field of contemporary fashion illustration.
There will be an emphasis on seeing and interpreting the dynamic movement, mood and theatricality of the fashion figure and the techniques for capturing the essential structural, and material elements of fabrics, clothing, styling and accessories.
Part 1: In the morning session, you will be guided through a series of exercises from a live fashion model which are designed to develop the skill of representing the dynamics of the human figure in costume. You will be shown the various types of illustration for fashion from production sketching through to exiting new forms of editorial and merchandising fashion illustration. There will be examples of the works of masters of this art from the masters of illustration through history to the experimental illustrators working in highly original and ingenious styles and techniques today.
Part 2: In the afternoon session participants will build a fashion illustration from start to finish. Faye will provide individual feedback and one on one guidance to each participant to enable a solid understanding of fashion illustration processes from creative referencing to sketching and problem solving your concepts and finally to a variety of techniques for building a finished, print ready illustration.
