Blokes in the caring role program by Dementia Australia. Suitable for: Male carers who can participate in a 4 week group program.
About this event
These sessions give male participants the chance to meet other men who are caring for a loved one living with dementia, and to learn together what to expect. It takes a practical approach to developing strategies and identifying suitable support options.
Other topics covered include managing changes in behaviour and abilities, communication for people living with dementia, grief and loss, the impact to relationships, self-care for the carer and avenues of support such as family, friends and community services.
This program is suitable for: Male carers who want to reflect on their new role and relationship with their family member living with dementia, who can participate in a four week group program.
Program format: Small group sessions where you will have opportunity to share your experiences and listen to and support others.
