Description
These sessions give participants the chance to meet other men who are caring for a loved one living with dementia, and to learn together what to expect. It takes a practical approach to developing strategies and identifying suitable support options.
One session includes EDIE which is a Virtual Reality technology that gives an immersive experience to walk in the shoes of a person with dementia.
Other topics covered include managing changes in behaviour and abilities, communication for people living with dementia, grief and loss, the impact to relationships, self-care for the carer and avenues of support such as family, friends and community services.
This program is suitable for: Male carers who want to reflect on their new role and relationship with their family member living with dementia, who can participate in a 4 week group program.
Program Format: Small group sessions where you will have opportunity to share your experiences and listen to and support others.

Friday 13 March 2019 from 10am-1pm
Friday 20 March 2019 from 10am-1pm
Friday 27 March 2019 from 10am-1pm
Friday 3 April 2019 from 10am-1pm

Limited Car parking is available in the car park located off Glen Street, look for the reserved signs.
Street Car Parking:
There is often all day car parking located on Glen Street and Riversdale Road on one side of the street and 2 hour car parking on the other side. Please read the signs carefully.
Tram: No 70 or 75 Riversdale Road OR No 16 Glenferrie Road
Stop 32
Train: To Glenferrie Station (Belgrave/Lilydale Line) tram or 10 min walk south along Glenferrie Road. Stop at Riversdale Road

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.
