Program Objective:

PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for people with a life-limiting illness.

The workshops are interactive and provide ample time for discussion through case presentations and examples (some aspects of the program may change due to circumstances beyond our control).

Target Audience: Care Workers, AINs, PCAs, PCWs working in an aged care setting (Residential, Community, Hospital) with no/limited palliative care experience.

Aim of workshop: Develop an understanding of a palliative approach in aged care for people with a life-limiting illness and their families.

Topics include: A palliative approach; The Dying Process - goals of Care; Options in providing optimal end of life care for a person with Dementia; Negotiated Care Model - developing agreement around reasonable Goals of Care; Syringe Drivers and End of Life Care, local services referral pathway, overview of PEPA and placement opportunities (some aspects of the program may change due to circumstances beyond our control).

Further information:

  • An email confirming registration to attend will be sent from PEPA to participants.
  • Please note that places are limited and registration is essential.
  • TICKET issued in 'good faith' that you meet the necessary criteria/target group for this session. Those not meeting the criteria/target group will be contacted by PEPA NSW to cancel their ticket.
  • Registration opens approximately 15 minutes prior to start time.
