Event description

Description

Participatory Decision-Making will explore ways that community engagement and co-design methods can create service, policy and project outcomes which genuinely express the needs and aspirations of the communities they are designed to serve.

Service organisations and communities will be invited to consider new approaches which begin planning with a process of `deep listening’, underpinned by a genuine and declared intent to share decision-making power.

Focused on local settings, co-design strategies will be modelled in afternoon workshops to explore new and effective solutions to sticky problems and local issues. Projected outcomes of the day’s work include the creation of new partnerships, initiatives and advocacy informed by the service workers and community leaders in attendance.

Blacktown Conferences are collaborative outcomes of partnered local, regional and national institutions/organisations and the key organisers and contributors for 2019 conference include: Blacktown City Council, Community Resource Network (CRN), Sydwest Multicultural Services, TAFE NSW, Mission Employment, atWork Australia, STARTTS Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Blacktown Workers Club.

Look forward to seeing you all on 17 October 2019 at Blacktown Workers Club.
