This update will focus on commonly encountered vascular conditions in General Practice, with a focus on best practice diagnostic and management principles, supporting clinical decision-making in General Practice, and local referral pathways.

 Vascular Ulcers

  1. Review the diagnostic techniques and management principles of vascular ulcers, and identify which patients need specialist vascular referral for intervention.
  2. Identify the local public referral pathways for high-risk foot wounds and ulcers.

Carotid Stenosis & Rapid Access TIA Clinic

  1. Review the diagnosis of carotid stenosis; when specialist referral is indicated; and the local public Rapid Access referral pathways for new TIA presentations.

 Dual anti-platelet therapy – guidelines & controversies

  1. Discuss the principles of dual anti-platelet therapy, including current guidelines and controversies.

 Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAAs)

  1. Review the diagnosis/ clinical implications of AAAs, which patients need specialist vascular referral for intervention; and implications for fitness to drive.

There will be an opportunity for questions and answers/ case study discussion.

A light supper will be available from 6.00pm - 6.30pm.
