Description

Hello bird enthusiasts!

Join Bird Expert John Gitsham and the Friends of Cox Scrub on a morning walk through Scott Conservation Park to view and record the bird speicies present.

Lunch will be provided.

Places are limited to 15 people only.


Scott Conservation Park is on Gould Road between Ashbourne and Currency Creek, c. 7.5 km NW of the latter. Situated on the plains, east of the Mount Lofty Ranges, the park is relatively flat with trails winding through Blue and Pink gum woodlands. A choice of loop walking trails are available.

From Meadows take the Goolwa Road for 25.5 km, turn south onto Deep Creek Road. After 3 km take the track leading east for 0.75 km. This track runs along the park’s northern boundary.

According to Birds SA, common species in the park include Common Bronzewing, White-throated Treecreeper, Superb Fairywren, New Holland Honeyeater, Red Wattlebird, Grey Shrikethrush. Less common speices include Eastern Rosella, Tawny-crowned Honeyeater, Restless Flycatcher, Hooded Robin, Crested Shriketit.

Bring your own binoculars and water, wear sun and rain-safe clothing and walking shoes.
