Biosecurity Planning Workshop - Nebo
Date and time
Location
Nebo Memorial Hall
10 Reynolds St Nebo, Queensland 4742 AustraliaDescription
Managing pests, diseases and weeds on your property safeguards your productivity and profitability. The best person to determine what the biosecurity risks are and how they should be practically managed is you as the primary carer for your livestock. Most people are already following good biosecurity practices and doing what the plan suggests is required. Documenting those efforts will help to assure buyers that your products are high quality and come from a trusted source.
A biosecurity plan is not a mandatory requirement. It will be included in the LPA recommitment and is important for market access to the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Animal Health Australia has produced an FAQ for producers implementing biosecurity plans to meet J-BAS requirements for Johne’s disease and interstate access. You can access this document on the AHA website
For producers that would like to know more about managing biosecurity risks on property and how they can be reduced a workshop is a practical way to complete the biosecurity planning process. Workshops are being run collaboratively by Livestock Biosecurity Network, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Elders and AgForce to ensure the information is the same across the board.
It is important to understand and take the time to understand the risks you are managing however, it is not a requirement to attend a workshop. The templates have been designed to keep the process simple. Download a copy of the plan template here and use the National Cattle Health Declaration to communicate you health status to buyers.
