About this event
This is an online event. Join here at 10am Sunday 15 August: acf.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJUtc-qsqDkjG9MWwxcnSLYATXDq9CJSvicR
Can't make this date but keen for future BioBlitzes? Register for future events here.
Community or citizen science is a way for everyday people like you and me to get closer to nature. It involves recording the plants and animals you encounter in an area. This information is then used by scientists to understand where species live, when they’re active, and any changes happening in the local environment. Anyone can be a citizen scientist!
On Sunday 15 August we’ll come together online via Zoom to learn about citizen science, what it is, and how to do it. You’ll then get a chance to have a go yourself (with the help and guidance of your friendly hosts :) ), plus you’ll learn techniques to support your own citizen science journey into the future.
All you’ll need to participate is a computer with a good internet connection and your smartphone or camera. RSVP to receive more details along with the Zoom link.
This is a great chance to:
👪 Connect with fellow nature lovers while we’re in lockdown
🦘Get closer to the nature on your doorstep; you might be surprised at what you can find!
🍃 Learn some great techniques for observing wildlife whilst socially distancing
This event was originally going to be held in-person at Birdsland reserve, but due to lockdown it has been moved online. You can RSVP for the next in-person BioBlitz here.
We'll be using iNaturlist on the day, so if you want to make an account, download the app to your smartphone ahead of time and have a practice before Sunday that'd be great! www.inaturalist.org

This is an Australian Conservation Foundation event hosted with our friends at Southern Dandenongs Landcare. Read ACF's privacy policy here.
P.S. Wondering what a BioBlitz is? It's an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many plants and animals as possible in a specific area over a short period of time.
