BILL BOWTELL joins Covid Safe Schools Online Public Meeting - 7pm JAN 19th
Event Information
About this event
OUR CAMPAIGN
As the new school term imminently approaches and our government continues to show a complete disregard for the health and safety of our kids and teachers, our campaign has understandably greatly intensified.
WE NEED YOU TO HELP FUND OUR FIGHT TODAY.
Our fight for covid-safe schools is ongoing - the NSW Department of Education have given no assurances that the required protections from COVID will be in place at the start of term 1. We plan to file for legal action in the next week.
Court action is costly. We have lawyers who put in a lot of time pro-bono but we will still need at least $100,000 to run an urgent case. All we need is for 1000 people to contribute $100. Of course, all contributions large or small will be very much appreciated.
We need a fighting fund!
You can donate via:
- The GoFundMe campaign
- Direct debit: Covid Safe Schools Inc - Acc number: 100312146 - BSB: 611100
- Our DONATE button on our website
We need plaintiffs!
We urgently need a few parents willing to be plaintiffs, that is, to be named as the person applying to the court. It may be possible to prevent your name being made public if that is a concern. It is also desirable that your child also be a plaintiff, but not essential.
Please contact us via email for more information: hello@covidsafeschools.org.au
We need members!
We need to show the NSW Department of Education that Covid Safe Schools are a force to be reckoned with - we need as many members a possible. There is a small joining fee of $5, which will go towards association running costs. Please join via our website.
Join our meeting!
Join the meeting this week to hear our guest, Bill Bowtell, talk about policy advocacy in the COVID era and to hear updates on our campaign. A meeting agenda will be sent to all attendees on Wednesday morning.
Our grassroots efforts are certainly gaining momentum - a GIANT thank you to you all for your continuing support. Registration required - free and donation tickets available.
Please feel free to invite interested friends and family. ALL WELCOME!!
OUR GUEST: Bill Bowtell
Bill Bowtell AO, Adjunct Professor at UNSW and Strategic Health and Policy Consultant, is our guest at this week's online public meeting. We're thrilled to have Bill join us!
Bill has been following the work of Covid Safe Schools with great interest. He joins us this week, at a critical time in our advocacy, to help draw attention to our campaign and to offer us his advice and encouragement to continue our important fight for Covid Safe Schools.
Bill has been outspoken in his criticism of our governments handling of the pandemic. Bill's recently published book: 'Unmasked: The Politics of Pandemics' - published in March 2021 - details this criticism. In short, though, Bill states that 'Nature creates viruses. But people and politics create pandemics'.
Bill is a stalwart advocate of a preventative approach to controlling COVID, an approach that is grounded in science and recognises the central and unique role of government in protecting and providing for us.
It's a great honour to have Bill agree to share with us the benefit of his policy advocacy expertise and experience, particularly as we enter into the pointy end of our legal campaign.
