Advancements in technology have also brought enormous progress in the volume and quality of data available for us to capture, analyse, and draw insights from (Instagram stalking anyone?). As a result, data science is becoming an increasingly critical component of business strategy. In the past data analytics was the responsibility of consulting firms or a select in-house team, but now the use of data analytics to inform business decisions is embedded into every business department. From marketing and creative, through to finance and customer service.

Harnessing the power of data is critical to the success of any business. Without it, businesses may lose to competitors who are able to use data to effectively guide business decisions and strategy.

This Masterly online workshop will cover the following topics:

- An Intro to Data Science

- The Role of Data Science in Business: Understanding how data is being used to aid business decision making and strategy

- The Data Scientist’s ToolBox: An introduction to the tools and processes data analysts and scientists work with

- Upskilling in Data Science: Understanding the core skills and capabilities required to upskill in data analytics

- Trends and Forecasts: What’s happening now and what is coming up in the world of data science

Course format

This is an online Masterly online workshop, delivered using a new learning model that maximises student to teacher and student to student interaction. We believe in active learning and teaching meaningful, relevant and transferable. We won't bore you with pre-recorded lecture videos or pretend a discussion forum is Socratic learning... We also cool words like Socratic.

Here's how it works for this Masterly online workshop:

- There will be 1 online live workshop on the 5th February from 6pm to 7pm AEDT. You'll be able to join these classes from a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile

- There will be several practical projects over the duration of the course

- You'll receive feedback on these practical projects and to close the loop, be asked to reflect on what you've learned at the end of the week based on the live class, project and feedback

- You will connect with and interact regularly with the other students in the course via a dedicated Slack group

Meet Your Instructor

Siamak Tafavogh has a Phd Degree in Machine Learning and is the Lead Data Scientist at Coca-Cola Amatil. Dr. Tafavogh has helped Coca-Cola bring a data science capability into the organisation during the last 2 years. The C-suite of the company are now acknowledging the value of advanced analytics and machine learning after implementation of a number of successful data science products. Dr. Tafavogh has a track record of working with big organizations in Australia such as Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Cancer Institute of NSW. He is also an honorary adjunct academic with University of Technology Sydney and panellist on many prestigious analytic's forums.
