Event description
Big Blue Eyes at Black Bear Lodge

About this event

Big Blue Eyes embarks on their first ever tour in support of their debut album ‘Not Everything Is As It Seems’, releasing July 9th via Good Filthy Records. A recording project by multi-instrumentalist Ryan Smart, Big Blue Eyes burst onto the live scene in October last year playing an abundance of shows and built up an impressive reputation supporting the likes of Pacific Avenue, Concrete Surfers, and Kurilpa Reach. With the addition of Ethan Paddison on lead guitar, Jakob Lydford on keys, and girl power duo of Mikaela Swan and Paige Cardew on drums and bass respectively, the live show promises an energetic, emotive, and dance worthy set of indie-rock goodness.

Joining Big Blue Eyes at Black Bear Lodge on August 15th is Flamingo Blonde & Monet’s Pond.

Flamingo Blonde is Brisbane’s newest corporate cowboy to step out on the ranch. An indie-pop artist that has been working the greater Brisbane circuit for a few years now, Flamingo Blonde is bringing enough guitar-pop grooves for everyone. Citing influences such as Father John Misty and Blur, as well as a keen love for The Cure, Flamingo Blonde is packing hooks, dance-laden bass lines and charm, alongside a set of lyrics ready make you think “was that a real word or did he make that up?” Backed by the area’s best backing band, ‘The Brunettes’, the Flammy B live set has grown to be an unpredictable monster that assures a good time for all, with plenty of shit banter embedded into the show. Flamingo Blonde’s first single ‘Picture Me Gone’ lands October 2020, and with more in the bag to be released early 2021, Flamingo Blonde can’t wait to meet you.

Monet's Pond is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Brigette Lawrence. With her genre blending soundscapes of dreamy neo-psychedelia, she gives much inspiration for lovers of indie pop/ rock. Emerging in early 2021, Monets Pond made waves in the Brisbane live scene through her captivating live performances and energised music, playing to two sold-out crowds during the covid pandemic. In 2021 Monet’s Pond received “Highly Commended” from the Queensland Music Awards in the school section for her unreleased track ‘ Floating In Air’ set to be her debut release later this year.
