BHP Billiton in partnership with the QRC and Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) presents the 2017 International Women's Day Breakfast and Resources Awards for Women.
Inspirational speaker Turia Pitt, an Australian mining engineer, author and bushfire burns survivor will be the keynote speaker at this prestigious event.
Renowned for her pure grit, indomitable spirit and passion for humanitarian work, Turia has inspired people the world over.
In 2011, Turia, a former model , fitness junkie and successful mining engineer was caught in a firestorm while competing in a 100km ultramarathon in Western Australia. She was choppered out of the remote desert barely alive, with full thickness burns to 64 per cent of her body.
Surviving against overwhelming odds Turia has gone on to thrive in the ultimate story of triumph over adversity.
The breakfast will also include the presentation of the 12th annual Resources Awards for Women.
Winners of these awards become finalists in the Women in Resources National Awards, where in 2016, Queensland took out two of the five categories.
