Description

Join history enthusiasts and street photographers for the launch of the Victorian Archives Centre's latest collaborative photographic exhibition Beyond Bluestone: bending Melbourne’s architectural boundaries. Part of Melbourne Design Week 2018.

This free floor talk, guest lecture and exhibition launch, at the Victorian Archives Centre in North Melbourne, will celebrate the photographic exhibition Beyond Bluestone. Centred around a selection of photographs from the state’s historic photographic collection, curators have selected photos of major capital projects that have pushed our city’s architectural boundaries. From the Metro City Loop to infamous social housing towers, find out more about these important projects we now take for granted, and find out why they pushed the boundaries of their time. Alongside these historic photographs will be stunning contemporary shots of the city’s built environment submitted by some of Melbourne’s top street photographers.
