Event description
Betty O’Neill presents The Other Side of Absence: Discovering My Father's Secrets

About this event

This Family History Month join Betty O’Neill in conversation as she delves into the mystery of her father Antoni, a man with a secret and painful past.

Betty O’Neill grew up knowing very little about her father Antoni. She knew that he had fled Poland after WWII, that he had disappeared one night when she was a baby, and that his brief reappearance when she was a young adult had been harrowing and painful. Fifty-five years after he deserted her family, Betty becomes determined to solve the mystery of her absent father and discover exactly who Antoni Jagielski was.

Honest and compelling, The Other Side of Absence: Discovering My Father's Secrets, has elements of a cold case detective story. Evidence and facts gathered along the way reveal disturbing truths buried within a family. This is a memoir of resilience and strength as a daughter reconciles the damage and trauma wrought on families by war.

UPDATE: This event will be delivered ONLINE ONLY via Zoom. All attendees who had booked EVENT tickets to attend the session in-person have been sent a Zoom invitation for this event.
