Better Information Workshop - Translating Legalese
Date and time
Location
Victoria Law Foundation
Level 5 43 Hardware Lane Melbourne, VIC 3000 AustraliaDescription
Legal concepts, terminology and systems differ greatly between jurisdictions, cultures and languages. Add to that the specialist jargon used in the legal sectors and lack of English language skills in many diverse communities in Victoria and what you get is a triple access barrier to legal information and legal services. The presentation will cover how to make information more accessible to CALD communities, how to write for translation and how to disseminate the translated information effectively.
