Description

Recent adoption of fiber based Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technologies are demonstrating to deliver high-speed broadband. However, major obstacle in accomplishing the Fiber based GPON technologies is, last mile cabling in the buildings and homes. Due to this, Telcos around the globe have started re-looking into the copper based technologies that already exist in the buildings and around the homes. G.Fast (FTTdp) technology has emerged quickly out of xDSL family with no change in the underlying last-mile network that has established to deliver ultra-fast broadband as an outcome in addressing this last-mile challenge. However, transition from current xDSL technologies to G.Fast in typical copper networks with the combination of fiber from layer-1 to layer-2 is an unsettled contest. The presentation covers out-of-the-square practices and solutions that can be adopted in rehabilitating the copper networks to adopt G.Fast technologies with the blend of fiber technologies. Additionally, the presentation takes through a cohesive progression in Operations, Administration and Management (OAM) of G.Fast technologies.

Kiran Solipuram has 19 years of experience with various Multinational Telecom operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Asia-Pacific, North America and Europe. Kiran is a globally recognised client trusted advisor and his ground-breaking solutions in broadband access technologies have been acknowledged throughout the world benefiting many global operators.
