Event description

Description

Being Frank: a theatre-based education program about trans and gender diversity

The Being Frank program can form an important component of a local strategy for anti-discrimination and respectful relationships. The program has been successfully delivered in secondary schools, workplaces, and universities.

The program consists of a 30-35 minute ‘play’ plus a moderated post-performance panel discussion. In the play we follow the journey of a young trans person, family and friends, introducing a variety of different perspectives. The script of the play remains unchanged from performance to performance, but the format of the post-performance discussion is tailored to the local setting, circumstances, and anti-discrimination/respectful relationships activities happening locally. When delivered in a particular setting, panel members include those from relevant local agencies, and the discussion serves to introduce people to the local resources that are available.

This event offers people, especially those who are considering bringing the program into their setting, a chance to see a performance of the 'play' that forms the first part of the program, followed by a short Q and A session with members of the production team.

Arrive from 4pm for coffee and tea, ‘play’ starts at 4.15pm sharp
