Event description
Have you seen Birdlife's EagleCAM ? Find out more about it and the Parramatta River White-bellied Sea-Eagles at Sydney Olympic Park.

About this Event

Judy Harrington, President of the Birdlife, Southern NSW, has been involved with EagleCAM from the very beginning when Birdlife volunteers watched from the ground in a hide they made before installing the first CCTV camera in 2009.

Operating out of the BirdLife Discovery Centre in the Armory at Sydney Olympic Park, EagleCAM is supported through a research agreement with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and approval from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.

The White-bellied Sea-Eagle Haliaeetus leucogaster is commonly seen along the coasts and inland rivers of Australia. The current pair of Parramatta River Sea-Eagles can often be spotted during the day on their regular mangrove perch or soaring overhead above Sydney Olympic Park.

The pair have chicks that are currently fledging and are fascinating to watch.

Judy says, "I have watched several pairs of White-bellied Sea-Eagles on the beautiful Parramatta River for many years, and now we are privileged to watch them live on camera."

Join our webinar to hear Judy talk about EagleCAM, and learn more about this amazing species and the chicks this year and in the past.
