Overview

“Wave goodbye to the tolls and say hello to the waves”. The beach days are on us!

Fairfield City Council is putting on FREE bus services going to Watsons Bay and back on Sunday 11 January 2026.

Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA) residents can ride the wave all the way to Sydney’s iconic surf beach of Watsons Bay, without worrying about tolls, petrol, or parking.


REGISTRATION OPENS ON 6/12/25 AT 9AM

Bus trips details

Pick up location: Deerbush Park (Fairfield Showground)

Address: 443 Smithfield Road, Prairewood

Board the bus: 8:30am

Bus departs: 9:00am sharp

Enjoy the beach and surrounding attractions for 6 hours

Return bus: 4:15pm (pick up location - Military Road outside Robertson Park)

Arrive at Fairfield Showground: approximately 6:00pm

Free parking available

Deerbush Park has free all day parking available to all beach goers.

What to bring

Grab your beach essentials - cossies, towel, hat, water, food and don't forget your sunscreen.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION (Terms and Conditions)

Eligibility

  • For Fairfield Residents ONLY.
  • Individual Attendance: If attending alone, you MUST reside within the Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA).
  • Group Attendance: If attending as part of a group, everyone in the group MUST reside within the Fairfield LGA.

Bookings

  • FREE trips, but registration is essential
  • Please register for only ONE beach trip so others have the opportunity to attend.
  • Maximum of 6 people per booking.
  • Bookings remain open until 8:00am on the day of travel, however trips may sell out before this time.
  • We strongly recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

Accessibility ♿

  • Wheelchairs and walkers cannot be stored inside the bus.
  • They may be stored in the luggage compartment under the bus.

Cancellations

  • If you can no longer attend, please cancel your booking as soon as possible so another family can take your place.
  • For assistance with cancellation, email: scd@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au or contact SPCD team on 9725 0222 during business hours.

Tickets

  • You must present your ticket and ID to board the bus.
  • No ticket & No ID (proving Fairfield LGA residency) = No beach.

Departure & Return Times

  • You must return to the bus at the agreed departure time (4:15pm).
  • If you miss the bus, you will be required to make your own way home.
  • Fairfield City Council will not provide compensation for transport or associated costs.

Supervision

  • Fairfield City Council does not provide supervision during the trip.
  • All attendees under 16 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

Behaviour

  • Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • The bus operator may, at their sole discretion, take action against anyone engaging in disruptive or unsafe conduct.

Liability

Fairfield City Council accepts no responsibility or liability for:

  • Any injury sustained by attendees.
  • Any loss or damage to personal property during the trip.

Cancellations by Council

  • If the trip is cancelled by Council, you will be notified via SMS the day before the scheduled trip.
