Event description

Description

Join Shellharbour City Council’s Environment team to explore the amazing biodiversity of the intertidal rock platform at Bass Point and hear about the geology, plants and animals of this unique headland.

This is a medium grade nature walk, aimed at adults and older children. Participants must have a good level of fitness and agility as there is some rock hopping, rock scrambling and walking on uneven surfaces. Children aged over 8 years are welcome if they are supervised by an adult.

Places are limited and bookings essential. Please book a ticket for each person who will be attending (e.g. for two adults and one children, book three tickets). Participants must wear closed shoes (preferably ones that can get wet), a hat, sunscreen and sun safe clothing appropriate for outdoors.

If poor weather results in the need for this outdoor event to be cancelled, you will receive a cancellation notice by 10am on the day.

Please note that access to Bass Point Tourist Road has recently changed. You can no longer access Bass Point Tourist Road from Boollwarroo Parade. Please take Harbour Boulevard from the new lights on Shellharbour Road and follow this all the way through Shell Cove and out to meet Bass Point Tourist Road.

Once you meet Bass Point Tourist Road, turn right and follow the road past the gravel loader and through the main entrance gates into Bass Point Reserve). Then take the first left down to the carpark/boat ramp. This meeting place is marked on Google Maps as ‘The Gravel Loader Dive Site.’
