Hi all - special update!!! This workshop has now been moved to Tuesday 25th October in Woodstock - but hear this!!! We have the opportunity to share the day with the Dunoon weavers - a collaboration of African traditional weavers who work alongside Binky Newman of Design Africa. At the most beautiful basketry shop in Cape Town. Imagine being surrounded not only by baskets from all over Africa, but by weavers of some of these baskets!!! All learning a different technique together... What a unique opportunity - and a total privilege. (Can I come???) hehe Also - it's a totally easy technique and beginners are welcome!!! Spaces to be a part of this are by pre -booking only please!
Come and sit in circle with artist Rene Bahloo of Weavery as she shares her knowledge of basket weaving. South African-born Rene is visiting Cape Town for a short while, in transit from weaving at the Kalahari Desert Festival on her way back home to Australia. She works with weavers from Indigenous cultures in Australia and Africa, and is passionate about sharing the beautiful energy of connection and nurture that happens while in the conscious process of weaving a basket. So come and sit with us, share life stories and learn about fibres and dyes, as we weave together. Beginners absolutely welcome! You dont need to think you are creative, either... This is an experience of togetherness not to be missed.
Price includes all materials and tea. Please bring a plate of food to share for lunch.
R750 pp - children welcome to join us - non- weaving kids free! Supervised weaving youngsters half price.
