Basil’s Farm Seasonal Edible Gardening Workshops - 4 Workshop Package.


Everything you need to know to grow healthy and fresh organic food throughout the seasons. Utilising permaculture design principles and sustainable practices, drawing on the skills of our in-house gardening guru's Ben (Permaculture Gardener) and Igor (Farm Manager) to help turn your garden into one of abundance, health and beauty!

Autumn Workshop - 8th April, 2017.

Autumn is always a fun season to get in the garden, the weather is usually mild and its rewarding to know that by giving you patch a little extra love now you will reap the rewards in the months ahead!

Some of the topics we plan to cover in this workshop & our FREE Friday catch up's include:

  • Harvesting the garden and how to use in the kitchen.

  • Saving seeds from the garden.

  • Soil care and nutrition.

  • Espaliering.

  • No-dig gardening and preparing the soil for autumn.

  • Plant selection and autumn plantings.

  • Organic fertilisers (making organic teas and brews for the garden).

  • Ponds and water edibles.

  • Autumn propagation (semi-hardwood cuttings and division) berry fruits, herb harvesting and drying and autumn tasks in the garden.

Winter – July 22nd

  • Species selection and planting for winter.

  • Farming worms in the garden.

  • Kitchen garden harvests and how to use them (creating sensational soups).

  • Winter propagation (hardwood cuttings).

  • Pruning deciduous trees and shrubs.

  • Soil health & nutrition (legumes & green manures).

  • Orchard Design.

  • Garden Design.

Spring – October 14th

  • Plants for spring.

  • Garden activities in springtime.

  • Soil restoration & garden fertility.

  • Organic pest practices.

  • Weeds, their uses and managing them organically.

  • Kitchen harvests and how to use them.

  • Composting.

  • Spring planting and propagation (soft tip cuttings and seeds).

Summer – December 2nd

Culmination of the years workshops including a delicious lunch after the workshop to celebrate! (Additional costs apply $25 pp. Includes lunch and a glass of wine).

  • Activities for the summer kitchen garden.

  • Plants and propagation for summer.

  • Preparing the soil for summer.

  • Irrigation for summer (water saving tips).

  • Organic disease management.

  • Companions, biodiversity and guilds.

  • Herbs - for health and nutrition.

  • Maintaining the summer garden.

  • Kitchen harvests and how to use them (creating sensational salads from greens, weeds and flowers).
