Event description

Description

Journalling - it's quite the buzz word at the moment. Whether it's in the form of a gratitude journal, a place to record special memories, sketching or a funked up version of the old agricultural notebook where you keep all of your passwords, bank details and secrets!

Well, here is your chance to make your very own unique journalling notebook, which is a divine art form in itself (regardless of the amazing writing that will also grace it's pages)

In this 4 hour workshop, you will be led by book binding extraordinaire Jacob Degeling, who has completed the Bookbinding and Restoration course at Sydney Institute of TAFE.

You will be taught the ins and outs of making and completing two notebooks, one of which is A5 with Oriental Side Stitch, as well as a second A5 notebook showcasing the Pamphlet Stitch. The paper used is eggshell and you will have the chance to choose your own beautiful end paper.

Plus, you will be treated to endless cups of tea, treats and a delicious lunch in The Back Room.

All materials will be provided, however if you do have a small hammer then please bring it along. We will have some for use (my husband Bill is a builder after all!) so please don't go out and buy one.

Cost is $110 (plus and Eventbrite fee)

A bit about our presenter Jake...

"I am an IT manager, a programmer, a maker, and a creative. I am a fan of apostrophes and Oxford Commas, and using capital letters, and spelling the word ‘you’ with its full 3 letters. I like typography, and graphic design. I love making things and learning new skills, whether it is the art of squaring a piece of wood using only hand tools, building computer programs and websites, or learning welding and basic mechanics. I especially like things that are somewhat of a lost art, like making books and tying knots. I enjoy getting into nature with my family and watching birds, and getting to know all their names."

"I have recently moved with my wife and son from Sydney to Forbes and I’m employed at Red Bend Catholic College. For the last 11 years I was a teacher at a school for kids who didn’t fit in mainstream education. I look forward to building a bird hide and a chicken coop and having some goats when we get our 10 acres somewhere."
