Explore the theme of night sky during the Summer School Holiday! Join us for a series of creative workshops led by contemporary artists and poets from Bankstown Poetry Slam at Bankstown Arts Centre. It is recommended that participants attend both poetry and arts workshops.
Selected poetry and sculptures created at the workshops will be featured in the next edition of Westside Jr in 2017 - a Bankstown Youth Development Service publication.
Kids Night Creature Poetry Workshop (BOOKED OUT)

When you are home in bed fast asleep, these creatures at night are wide awake! Have fun with language and writing, create poetry about your imaginary night creatures!

Each session: 10am-noon
Make your night creatures into reality! Using the poem you created, sculpt your imaginary creature with clay. You will learn different ceramic techniques including hand building, glazing and more. The finished product will be ready for collection one to two weeks after the last workshop.

Kids Paper Mask workshop

Bring your night creature to life! Working with different types of bright, colourful and fun paper and card to create a night creature mask and bring your character to life.

Workshop cost: Two-day Poetry and Paper Mask workshop - $20
On workshop day
- Wear comfortable clothes and enclosed shoes
- Bring a bottle of water, snack is optional (no nut products)
- For parents/guardians - drop off your child inside the workshop class room 15 mins before commencement of workshop and pick up your child at the end of the workshop. We do not provide child minding after the workshop.
- We do not allow adults present at the workshop apart from our facilitator for safety reasons.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the workshop?
There is a 4hr community carpark next to Bankstown Arts Centre on Olympic Parade. Other community parking are within walking distance. Please visit www.cbcity.nsw.gov.au for more information inregards to parking.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the workshop?
No need to printout your ticket, just arrive 10 mins early to get your name tick off at the workshop. Parents and guardian need to drop off and collect your child inside the workshop room.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
No. The ticket is unfortunately not transferrable. You will need to register the participant with full details. We require correct contact information in case of emergency.
