Description

Celebrate food, art and ecology at this year’s Bankstown Arts Centre Open Day on 29 July (11am-3pm).

The event, to be held as part of Bankstown Bites, will include street food photography workshops, outdoor art sculptures, performances and children’s art activities. This is an open festival for everyone.

Music Line-Ups

DJ Biggie – a local Bankstown resident and a leader in the Sierra Leone Community. DJ Biggie has been DJ’ing for many years and always provides a great mix of Afro-Beats, RnB & Reggae.

Bankstown World Choir - is a community choir that meets at the Arts Centre every Monday to learn and share songs from different parts of the world. Choir conductor Linda Marr is an experienced singer. She leads 5 community choirs, teaches Cuban-style salsa dancing and broadcasts world music on the radio (Whirled Wide on 2mbs 102.5fm or www.2mbs.com).


Judenn – is a local young person who has performed at a number of events at the Bankstown Arts Centre. He has been playing the guitar for many years and has even built his very own custom made acoustic guitar. His style includes instrumental, folk, classical & flamenco.

DJ Aleksia – is an 11-year-old girl who goes to Georges Hall Public School. She sings, she plays the piano and loves all kinds of music. At the Bites Festival, DJ Aleksia will be playing a lot of upbeat Top 40 songs to accompany the Hula-Hooping.

Makindu - take their name from a Kenyan village, their rhythms from the Indian tabla and their melodies from the travelling clarinet. Their music tells the story of their journey together, incorporating folk traditions and sacred sounds.


More activities will be announced closer to the event.

A free event, all welcome.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Parking is difficult around the Bankstown precinct, take the train to the Open Day. For more transport information, please click here. Otherwise, community car park map can be download here. Please note there will be road closures on the day.


What can/can't I bring to the event?

You can bring a picnic to the Arts Centre Courtyard before the event. Otherwise, grab a bite at one of the stalls at Bankstown Bites.


Where Can I contact the organiser with more information?

Bankstown Arts Centre office opens Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, please contact us on 9707 5400 for all enquiries.


Do I need to pre-book to attend?

No, but if you want to get an event reminder. Better register online.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No need to print out your ticket, it's a walk-in event for everyone.


I want to bring my kids to this event, can I do that?

This is a family friendly event, but please stay with your children at all time and supervise them for all activities.
