You are invited to the G-TRAC Healthy Ageing Seminar Series. The Centre continues to run seminars and workshops on key topics relevant to the health and care of older people. Delivered by a range of experts in these fields, consumers as well as health and aged care practitioners are welcome to attend.

The next seminar is focused on falls.


Don’t Fall for Falls- Falls in Older Adults- A Clinician’s Perspective – Dr Thanuja De Silva

Dr De Silva will discuss contributing medical conditions for falls, relevant investigations, consequences and falls prevention.

Dr Thanuja De Silva is a final year advanced Trainee in Geriatrics Medicine at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She completed her training in General Medicine (FRACP) in 2016. Her clinical interests include Falls, Dementia, Osteoporosis and Diabetes.


Medications and Falls- Dr Ivanka Hendrix

Dr Hendrix will discuss some of the medication classes that are associated with increased falls risk and the mechanisms in which they do this.

Dr Ivanka Hendrix is a senior clinical pharmacist in the Older Person's Mental Health Service inpatient unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and a clinical lecturer at the School of Nursing of the University of Adelaide. Her area of research interest is deprescribing and the quality use of medicines in older Australians.
